From Scratch to You: The Story Behind Our DIY Kits

Pre-cut leather pieces ready for edge finishing and assembly

Ever wonder what happens before a DIY kits arrives at your door? It’s all about the time and care we put in behind the scenes. Here’s a quick look at how it all comes together.

Cutting leather pieces for a DIY bag kit

1. Choosing the Right Materials
  • The Leather: We use imported vegetable-tanned wax leather. It has a beautiful, vintage look. As you use it, the white wax fades and the natural leather color shines through. It’s low-maintenance and ages perfectly.

  • Minimal Hardware: We stick to a simple magnetic snap for our bags—it keeps your items safe without making the design look too busy.

  • The Tools: Every kit comes with everything you need: a leather knife, edge smoother, scissors, polishing stick, stitching chisel, and ruler.

2. Getting Everything Ready

Leather has a natural scent when it’s new, so we let it air out in our studio for a few days first. We then cut, smooth, and pre-punch the holes for you. This way, you can skip the hardest, most labor-intensive parts and get straight to the fun of building.

3. Designed for Beginners

We want you to feel confident, so we’ve made things as easy as possible:

  • Smart Design: For one of our brown bags, we include a storage bag that acts as an inner lining. No tricky sewing required!

  • Clear Guidance: For our green woven bag, we include numbered stickers. Just follow the numbers to weave the leather strips—it’s just like a puzzle.

  • The Card Holder: This is our easiest kit yet. It uses a rugged, vintage-style leather. A few handmade marks only make it look better!
